It is just amazing that we have 95 795 lakes bigger than 1 hectare (i.e. 100x100m). Together they cover approximately 40 000 km²
or 9% of the total area of Sweden.
So why not try to ride around them all! (it is rather impossible I know.. but anyway...)
This is the Riding Around the Lakes Manifesto:
- You must choose the smalles rideable/walkable path available as close to the lake as possible (it means a lot of gravel roads, bike paths, MTB paths, running paths and yes sometimes you have to walk with or even carry the machine!)
- Log the ride and save as gpx
- Take at 5-9 photos and log the spot to the map
- Try to cover all paths leading to the lake (even if you have to turn around) ...but do not breach closed private roads.
- Add facts about the lake
- Show on a large map of the whole country where the lake is placed and in which county
(e.g. Lake #001: 190718 Långhalmen, Dalsland - Add date, the length of the round trip and the machine used
